Our baristas are the local face of Time & Tide Coffee and play a huge role in ensuring people experience our coffee in the best way possible. They provide exceptional hospitality by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, facilitate a consistent “better coffee” experience for our guests, and contribute positively to the whole team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare espresso beverages for customers, meeting Time & Tide Coffee’s standards of excellence; Develop a thorough knowledge of our specialty recipes as well as “off-menu” espresso drinks customers may request
- Deliver exceptional customer experience; Proactively engage with customers to understand and meet their needs – go the extra mile to ensure they get exactly what they want
- Maintain familiarity with product and quality standards; this includes having a thorough understanding of our coffees - both whole bean and prepared, teas, food, and merchandise, in order to drive sales and engage in informed conversations with guests
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for customers and coworkers – front of house + back of house; a clean environment is everyone’s responsibility
- Accurately process transactions in the POS system (Square) and reconcile cash drawer at end of day (as required by your schedule)
- Ask for feedback on performance; know and hone your personal strengths and opportunities for improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Hospitality or coffee experience preferred
- Great communication skills – with fellow employees and with customers of all backgrounds
- Ability to deliver exceptional hospitality in a personal and sincere manner
- Growth-oriented; be open to feedback and constantly striving to improve
- Ability to multi-task with ease
- Early AMs, weekends and extreme reliability required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Stand and walk—must be able to stand for shifts and move about the café
- Perform repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and forearms to operate espresso machinery
- Taste/Smell – ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee
- Talk/hear – frequently communicates with customers
- Carry weight, lift – lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed at Time & Tide Coffee’s flagship cafe
- Interfacing with the public is a key part of this job
- The cafe space can be noisy at times
COMPENSATION
Hourly;, $16/hr starting PLUS pooled tips
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
