This role is a critical member of our Team and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of product quality and safety by ensuring that all production equipment, structural and storage facilities, offices, restrooms, rest areas, and equipment comply with Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and the Allergan Program, GMP's (Good Manufacturing Processes), Federal, State, and local food protection standards, and Company programs.
Has direct responsibility for ensuring all work activities under its control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, ensuring compliance with GMP, safety, company policies, HR policies, and production consistency. Partners with management ensuring plant sanitation, quality, and safety are met.

Ensures strict adherence of sanitation team to company’s safety rules and policies, e.g., use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), Lock-out Tag-out Procedure (LOTO), etc.

Ensures strict adherence of sanitation team to company’s Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).

Recommends necessary updates to SSOPs and safety procedures based on practical experience, and knowledge of industry’s best practices

Performs new hire training and safety and SSOP orientations

Works with chemical supplier to understand proper usage and concentration of the chemicals as well as gaining familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) related to the chemicals accident or spills

Directly supervises Sanitation Team - carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws

Ensures that sanitation employees and supporting departments have the required food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety training

Inspects products and equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards

Confers with management and production personnel on sanitation, quality, and HACCP issues and recommend changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and purity of the product

Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions; inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions, Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement

Ensures that sanitation employees and supporting departments have the required food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety training

Must be able to operate the equipment necessary for his/her function - i.e., Mixer, Chopper, Stuffer, Grinder, Multivac, Xray/Metal Detector, Label Machine, Tape Machine, Box Erector, etc. - after appropriate training by an authorized individual(s) safely and effectively to sanitize properly.

Additional responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Working knowledge of industrial sanitation chemicals usage and applications.

Required to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and electric pallet jacks after being certified and approved by the Plant Manager.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Assist receiving and smokehouse departments with technical issues and after-hours receiving.

Must be able to read and speak English and Spanish effectively (desired)

Must be able to work in a cold environment constantly (approximately 30°F to 40°F)

Must be able to climb ladders, steps, and stairs occasionally

Must be able to bend, squat, and occasionally kneel to move up to 40 lbs. from various heights

Must be able to push and occasionally pull up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to push and occasionally pull carts/racks (on wheels) up to 600 lbs.

Must be able to reach above the head frequently

Must be able to maintain repetitive motions/tasks constantly

Must be able to push seldomly and pull pallet jacks containing up to 2,000 lbs. of cargo individually or with the help of one other person

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred

Working experience in a GMP-enforced environment is preferred
The physical demands described represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Hours of Work
Weekend and overtime might be required with little prior notice. Must be able to start work as early as 1:30 PM. And work late evenings.
