The
Honolulu Board of Water Supply is looking for an
Assistant Field Operations Manager to assist the Program Administrator in the overall executive direction of the division. This position is oversees the day-to-day operations of the division's five base yards in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pipelines and appurtenances of the department's water distribution system.
What You Will Do-
Operations & System Oversight: Directs 24/7 operation and maintenance of the island-wide water distribution system, including pipelines, hydrants, valves, meters, facilities, and related infrastructure.

Emergency Response Leadership: Leads and coordinates response to major system disruptions (e.g., main breaks, natural disasters), serving as on-site incident commander to restore service and minimize impact.

Construction & Project Management: Plans, coordinates, and supervises construction, maintenance, and repair of pipelines, structures, drainage systems, and related public works.

Administrative & Personnel Management: Oversees budget development, staffing, performance management, policy implementation, and labor relations for the division.

Strategic Coordination & Planning: Collaborates with internal units and external agencies to drive long-term planning, operational improvements, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Perform other related duties as required.
Special Work Requirements-
Position classified as a Disaster Response Worker and is required to staff the Departmental Operations Center (DOC) in times of emergency.

Works in adverse weather conditions and additional hours as necessary to oversee and coordinate emergency repairs to restore water service as quickly and safely as possible

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three (3) years of administrative experience relating to the design, construction, installation, and/or maintenance of a major facilities or systems encompassing field operations of a large geographic area.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid license as a professional engineer in the State of Hawaii.
