Are you an experienced Nurse Practitioner who wants more than another job?
Advanced Kidney Care is seeking an NP who values meaningful patient relationships, enjoys complex medicine, and wants to continue growing as a clinician. We are looking for someone who entered healthcare to make a difference—not simply to complete a shift.
Previous nephrology experience is not required. We welcome experienced NPs from any specialty who are curious, motivated, and interested in developing expertise in kidney disease, hypertension, dialysis, and the care of medically complex patients.

Schedule
This full-time position follows a four-week rotation:
- One week of hospital coverage
- Three weeks of outpatient clinic
- Approximately two to four outreach clinics per month
- No weekday night call
- Weekend call approximately once every four weeks during the hospital week
- Some holiday coverage on a rotating schedule
Typical clinical volumes include:
- Hospital census of approximately 8–12 patients
- Outpatient clinic goal of approximately 14–16 patients per day after full training and onboarding
Patient volume will increase gradually as you develop confidence and proficiency in nephrology.
What you will do
- Evaluate and manage patients with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, proteinuria, and other kidney-related conditions
- Care for medically complex patients in outpatient and hospital settings
- Participate in the care of patients receiving dialysis or preparing for renal replacement therapy
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and treatment options
- Review laboratory results, clinical findings, and treatment plans
- Coordinate care with physicians, hospitals, dialysis facilities, and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in outreach clinics serving surrounding communities
- Help patients navigate barriers to receiving appropriate care
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice

You do not need to arrive as a nephrology expert. You must be willing to learn, ask questions, accept feedback, and develop into an excellent nephrology clinician.
Compensation and benefits
- Annual salary of $95,000–$110,000, based on experience

Minimum qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current national board certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current Iowa Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Previous experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner
- Ability to participate in clinic, hospital, outreach, weekend-call, and rotating holiday responsibilities
- Strong communication, organization, and clinical decision-making skills
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continued professional development
Previous nephrology experience is welcomed but not required.
