Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and observe patients’ health status by taking vital signs, administering medications, and updating care plans in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs, ensuring proper food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
- Support clients with personal transportation needs for appointments, errands, or community engagement activities.
- Maintain a safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, ensuring hygiene standards are met in accordance with health protocols.
- Document patient observations, progress notes, and incident reports accurately to ensure seamless communication within care teams.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, especially for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism spectrum disorder, or other developmental disabilities.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
- Strong knowledge of patient care techniques including medication administration, patient monitoring, and first aid/CPR certification.
- Familiarity with dementia care, memory care strategies, hospice care practices, and neurodevelopmental disorders support.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting and patient transfers safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare professionals while respecting privacy laws like HIPAA.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities is highly valued.
- Knowledge of care plans development and implementation tailored to individual needs across geriatrics and pediatric populations.
