Position: Strategic Accounts Manager – Energy & Electric Utilities

Position Summary: The Strategic Accounts Manager – Energy & Electric Utilities is responsible for developing, executing, and growing a defined portfolio of strategic accounts operating within electric utility, power generation, transmission, and distribution environments. These customers operate within highly regulated, infrastructure-critical systems where grid reliability, system uptime, and secure connectivity are essential to continuous operations.
This role serves as the primary commercial and strategic interface between Weidmüller and assigned accounts, aligning customer grid modernization initiatives with Weidmüller’s connectivity, power distribution, and automation solutions. Success requires strong technical credibility, disciplined account planning, and cross-functional leadership to position Weidmüller as a long-term infrastructure partner within the evolving energy ecosystem.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategic account plans to drive revenue growth, profitability, product mix expansion, and increased market share within Energy & Electric Utility accounts.
- Create and maintain multi-year account roadmaps aligned with customer capital investment cycles, infrastructure initiatives, and long-term operational goals.
- Gain a deep understanding of customer operations, organizational structure, supply chain, and performance metrics to identify opportunities and recommend strategic initiatives.
- Build and strengthen relationships across all levels of customer organizations, including executive leadership, procurement, engineering, operations, quality, and commercial teams.
- Lead recurring business reviews, assess competitive positioning, and provide strategic recommendations to improve account performance and engagement.
- Organize and lead cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, high-quality engagement and alignment between Weidmüller and assigned accounts.
- Support projects throughout all phases including specification, bidding, procurement, and implementation while maintaining visibility into the overall opportunity pipeline.
- Collaborate with global teams (including Richmond, VA; Detmold, Germany; and other subsidiaries) to align account strategies, pricing actions, and channel integration efforts.
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics CRM for account planning, opportunity tracking, pipeline management, and performance reporting.
- Drive adoption and effective use of sales tools to support regional and national market strategies.
- Lead the development of customer presentations and proposals, partnering with internal stakeholders to deliver value-driven solutions.
- Support and promote integrated solutions, including packaged control systems and end-to-end offerings developed in collaboration with the product management teams.
- Partner with distributors and Marketing to execute national account strategies and enhance market reach where applicable.
- Represent Weidmüller at industry associations, customer events, and relevant market activities to strengthen brand presence and relationships.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including quotation processes, lead follow-up, and timely reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and quality regulations, including ISO 9001, OSHA CFR 1910, and internal policies.
- Report potential risks or non-conformities within the Quality Management System to the appropriate management level.
Perform additional duties assigned by leadership.

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation, power distribution, and electrical infrastructure within energy and electric utility environments.
- Experience supporting or selling into electric utilities, power generation, transmission, or distribution systems.
- Demonstrated success managing and growing strategic or complex accounts.
- Strong consultative selling, relationship-building, and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
- Ability to navigate complex organizations and lead cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong business acumen, negotiation skills, and decision-making ability.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of operating in a dynamic environment.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related discipline is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in Industrial Controls and Automation sales.
- Proven experience supporting Energy and Electric Utility sector customers (design, components, construction, commissioning, or service).
- Familiarity with distribution channels and global account structures preferred.
Travel Requirements & Physical Demands
- Must be able to travel up to 40% of time as dictated by business need (including overnight and possibly international).
- Must be able to travel via airplane.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (samples, demos, literature).
Compensation Transparency
- The expected compensation range for this position is $125,000 - $160,000 annually and is provided in good faith at the time of posting. Individual offers will be based on qualifications, education, certifications, experience, skills, and geographic considerations (if applicable).

Position: Field Sales Engineer – Midwest
Team: Field Sales
Reports to: District Sales Manager
Classification: Exempt
Position Summary
Responsible for meeting the sales and profit goals within assigned territory.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and develop new sales opportunities for all assigned product groups.
- Establish and maintain channel partner relationships through sales/product training and on-going communication.
- Develop and implement effective sales plans across a geographic territory
- Provide field market intelligence such as competitive information and market trends.
- Participate in and support regularly scheduled territory reviews with authorized distributors.
- Provide technical and commercial support to channel partners and customers.
- Report all sales activities to the District Sales Manager.
- Develop quotations, project layout, demonstrations and competitive comparisons.
- In conjunction with the District Sales Manager, coordinate sales and marketing activities within the territory.
- Qualify and follow-up on all leads within assigned territory, Industry segment and/or account portfolio.
- Meet/exceed position objectives as established by Sales leadership.
- Fully utilize CRM as a communication, reporting, and measurement tool to enhance productivity.
- Participation in local, regional, and international meetings.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
- Ensures thorough familiarity with and compliance to all Environmental, Safety and Security Policies while performing assigned duties in accordance with those policies.
- Conducts tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, environmental and security regulations (state/federal laws, ISO 9001, CFR 1910 OSHA) as well as Company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for notifying your direct supervisor, manager and/or a member of the Executive Staff of any risks associated with the Quality Management System.
Minimum Qualifications
- Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills including polished presentation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- High level of organization and time management.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned territory.
Educational & Experience Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree. Engineering/technical focus preferred.
- Technical training preferred
- Previous experience selling industrial, electrical, or electronic components.
- Previous experience working with industrial distribution, OEMs, and system integrators.
