Job Title: Grocery Manager

Reports to: Store Director/ Assistant Store Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting and working with Store Management in all aspects of the Grocery department operations. Assumes the role of Manager on duty when Store Director and Assistant Store Director are not on duty
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):
- Promotes and maintains proper and efficient service of customers.
- Responsible for supervising and recommending disciplinary action for associates in department.
- Responsible for work schedules, assigning work, training, enforcing Company policies and SOP’s, productivity and communication with associates.
- Responsible for the processing of invoices, department reports, employee appraisals, inventory and supply ordering.
- Oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of the warehouse, grocery walk-in freezers, the dairy/chill cases and the grocery sales floor
- Ensure that proper credit is received for damages and they have been returned to the respective vendors
- Removes damaged items from grocery floor and records damages into the Symbol unit to track shrink
- Daily Cycle counts of the grocery floor to ensure ITASCA system is ordering properly
- Oversees and implements price changes
- Receives merchandise and ensures that authorized items are received
- Reviews and controls inventory in the backroom
- Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager
OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use of proper safety procedures
- Receiving merchandise with or without the DSD (direct store delivery) gun.
- Drives forklift to receive or move around merchandise throughout warehouse.
- Periodic taking of, downloading and auditing inventories.
- Able to multitask, listen to directions and follow through independently
- Able to deal with difficult customers, have good communication and observation skills
- Able to work with a team and independently when needed
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
- High school / Secondary school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years of age in accordance with company policy
- Possesses a food handling license
- Possesses First Aid / CPR / AED Certification
- Possesses Company Forklift Operator Certification
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Previous experience working in Grocery/Retail or similar job experience
- Proficiency in the ITASCA system
- Knowledge of location of products
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Word, Excel and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind, chill temperatures when products need to be retrieved from chill
