Premier VetCare is a growing multi-doctor veterinary hospital in Smyrna, TN seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We provide general practice, surgery, dentistry, and expanding urgent care services in a fast-paced clinical environment as we continue to grow.
We practice high-quality, affordable veterinary medicine using a spectrum-of-care approach. We are committed to exceptional patient care, client education, and team development. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in veterinary medicine, even if they have little or no experience. We are willing to train the right candidate who is motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during exams, surgery, dentistry, and urgent care procedures
- Provide safe, compassionate handling and restraint of animals
- Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal)
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels
- Support anesthesia, diagnostics, and emergency procedures
- Follow sanitation, safety, and infection control protocols
- Help ensure patients receive excellent care throughout their visit
Qualifications
- Interest in veterinary medicine and animal health
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Dependability, professionalism, and strong work ethic
- Compassion for animals and their owners
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Experience in veterinary medicine is a plus but not required
