Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety protocols at all times
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dishes and improvements based on customer feedback and seasonal ingredients
- Handle food with care, ensuring proper food handling techniques to prevent contamination
- Support the kitchen team during busy periods by efficiently managing multiple tasks such as food prep, cooking, and plating
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food industry standards and kitchen operations
- Collaborate with dietary department staff to accommodate special dietary needs and dietary aide experiences when necessary
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is highly preferred
- Demonstrated culinary experience with proficiency in food preparation, cooking, and meal assembly
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques are essential
- Experience in dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus, especially related to menu planning or catering services
- Knowledge of food safety practices, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
- Exposure to the food industry or kitchen experience that highlights your ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Excellent serving skills and understanding of customer service principles within a food setting
