Arborist / Groundman
Clos Tree Solutions – Jackson, Michigan Area
Full-Time | Tree Care / Arboriculture
About Clos Tree Solutions
Clos Tree Solutions is a professional tree care company built around skilled arboriculture, quality workmanship, safety, and doing the job right.
We are looking for an Arborist / Groundman who wants more than just a job. We are looking for someone who is honest, dependable, hardworking, and genuinely interested in learning the tree care profession and becoming excellent at their craft.
Our owner is an ISA Certified Arborist and one of the top competitive tree climbers in Michigan, with experience competing throughout the United States and at the highest levels of competitive tree climbing, including North American and international competition.
For the right person, this position offers the opportunity to work alongside and learn from an experienced professional climber and arborist while developing real-world skills in climbing, rigging, tree removal, pruning, equipment operation, and professional tree care.
Experience is valuable, but attitude, character, and willingness to learn are even more important to us.
Position Responsibilities
As an Arborist / Groundman, you will work directly with our climbing and tree care crew. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting climbers during tree pruning and removals
- Managing climbing and rigging ropes from the ground
- Learning proper rope, knot, rigging, and lowering techniques
- Operating and maintaining chainsaws and other tree care equipment
- Running brush and debris through a wood chipper
- Moving logs, brush, and equipment
- Maintaining an organized and safe jobsite
- Assisting with equipment and truck setup
- Learning proper pruning and tree care practices
- Learning safe and efficient tree removal techniques
- Communicating clearly with climbers and other crew members
- Performing daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Following company and industry safety procedures
- Helping leave every customer's property clean and professional
For employees who demonstrate the ability and desire to advance, there may be opportunities to develop skills in tree climbing, aerial rescue, advanced rigging, pruning, removals, equipment operation, and professional arboriculture.
Who We're Looking For
We want someone who:
- Is honest and trustworthy

- Can follow instructions and communicate well with the crew

- Can perform physically demanding work throughout the day
- Takes care of company equipment
- Treats customers, coworkers, and their property with respect

We are willing to train the right person.
If you already have tree care or climbing experience, we are interested in applicants who want to continue developing their skills and become better arborists.
If you don't have professional tree care experience but are mechanically inclined, physically capable, dependable, and eager to learn, we encourage you to apply.
