The Buyer, is responsible for coordinating and scheduling material purchase orders based on materials requirement planning and system needs. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Financial Planning, Analysis and Budgeting.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews approved purchase requisitions to prepare and place purchase orders for requested supplies/equipment according to order schedule
- Creates and manages purchase orders for the acquisition of supplies for various departments
- Identifies opportunities for cost savings based on vendor and item selection
- Interacts with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure the proper acquisition of supplies
- Initiates and confirms purchase orders by Electronic Data Interchange (EDI); fax or email to vendors for orders placed through Oracle
- Verifies pricing and availability of items being ordered and confirms delivery information
- Communicates with departments regarding the status of their orders; takes corrective action when needed
- Verifies that items requested are on a National GPO Agreement, if applicable
- Ensures that items are entered correctly to minimize errors and works with Accounts Payable to ensure proper coding of purchase orders
- Processes capital requests according to policy
- Researches product information for supplies/equipment; obtains literature and prices quotes as necessary
- Arranges for the delivery of supplies and equipment as requested
- Monitors and updates pricing on Oracle; maintains Item dictionaries
- Maintaining Item Master, including inventory analysis pertaining to obsolescence or substitutions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two years’ experience in medical supply chain or related field; education may substitute for years of experience.
- Must have excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills
- Maintains a positive customer service attitude with staff, visitors, and vendors
- Requires strong computer skills
- Knowledge with Oracle MRP software preferred
Location: Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital located at 3599 University Blvd South, Jacksonville, FL 32216
Hours: Monday - Friday, 10am - 7pm with an hour lunch or 10:30am - 7pm with a 30 min lunch
