Position Purpose
This position provides patient care of a diagnostic and therapeutic technical nature, performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures that support and assist the work of the physician, R.N. and Endoscopy Team for optimal patient care. Responsible for the supplies and care of instrumentation before, during, and after endoscopy procedures.
Nature and Scope
The Endoscopy Technician I functions as a beginner level technician in the endoscopy unit. The incumbent has 0-1 years of endoscopy experience and are trained in all aspects of general GI procedures and endoscope reprocessing. They are confident, competent, and independent working in colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) procedures. They have an in-depth knowledge of basic GI and assist the nurses and physicians in providing care during general GI procedures and with other tasks in the endoscopy unit. They have complete competencies for all basic GI procedures and are competent in all aspects of endoscope reprocessing. The Technician I also supports the area with duties that include but are not limited to preparation of the procedure room and sterile field to ensure a safe patient care environment including gathering all required instruments and supplies and serving as an endoscopy procedure assistant. The job also includes transportation of patients and equipment, stocking/maintaining supplies, care and maintenance of endoscopes and their accessories contributing to the daily functions of the unit. They exhibit the ability to collaborate with all members of the Renown endoscopy team and have a solid understanding of infection control in the GI setting.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Documentation of Anatomy/Physiology class, microbiology class, and basic computer skills from an accredited institution preferred.
Experience:
Preferred at least 1 year of experience in endoscopy or in a clinical setting, such as a GI clinic, sterile processing department, or operating room.

Certification(s):
Current CPR certification by AHA standards required upon hire.
The following are required within 6 months of hire:
- Completion of Endoscopy Technician Skills & Equipment Checklist
- SGNA Associates Program Certification
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
