Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager with strong head mechanic expertise to join our team. In this role, you will lead our maintenance department, ensuring our fleet of semi-trucks & trailers remain in top condition for uninterrupted deliveries. This is a hands-on position where you'll manage a team of mechanics, maintain detailed records, and step in to perform repairs as needed. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage a team of mechanics, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards of work.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including service logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation to meet DOT regulations and company policies.
- Perform hands-on mechanical work on semi-trucks & trailers and related equipment when necessary, diagnosing issues, conducting repairs, and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate fleet scheduling, parts inventory, and vendor relationships to minimize downtime and control costs.
- Ensure all vehicles adhere to safety standards, conducting regular inspections and addressing any compliance issues promptly.
- Collaborate with operations teams to optimize fleet performance and support overall business goals.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a head mechanic or fleet manager in the trucking or heavy-duty vehicle industry (minimum 5 years preferred).
- Strong mechanical knowledge of semi-trucks & trailers, including engines, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulics; ASE certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Leadership skills with experience managing teams and fostering a positive work environment.
- Proficiency in maintenance tracking software and record-keeping; familiarity with FMCSA/DOT regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required) and ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
