PROJECT MANAGER

Position Summary
Mechanical Piping Solutions is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee commercial plumbing projects from preconstruction through closeout. The Project Manager is responsible for project planning, scheduling, budgeting, client communication, labor coordination, project meetings, safety oversight, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
The ideal candidate has strong commercial construction experience, understands project financials, can effectively manage field teams, and is comfortable serving as the primary point of contact for customers, vendors, field personnel, and general contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight
- Manage multiple commercial plumbing projects simultaneously
- Oversee projects from award through completion
- Conduct project kickoff meetings
- Develop and maintain project schedules
- Monitor project progress and productivity
- Resolve project issues and escalations
- Ensure project milestones are achieved
- Maintain project schedules and look-ahead schedules
- Coordinate project closeout activities
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans and specifications
Project Meetings & Client Coordination
- Attend all project meetings with General Contractors, owners, and stakeholders
- Attend and actively participate in preconstruction meetings
- Attend and participate in weekly project progress meetings
- Attend and participate in safety meetings
- Serve as the primary point of contact for General Contractors and project stakeholders
- Maintain strong customer relationships throughout project execution
- Resolve customer concerns and project challenges in a timely manner
- Ensure customer satisfaction from project award through closeout
Preconstruction & Business Development Support
- Attend pre-bid walkthroughs and site visits
- Review project scope and identify potential challenges before project award
- Collaborate with estimating on project turnover and scope reviews
- Assist leadership in evaluating project opportunities
- Support business development efforts through relationship building with General Contractors and owners
- Help identify opportunities for repeat business and future projects
- Coordinate job requirements and specifications with estimator
Financial Management
- Review project budgets and job cost reports
- Monitor labor productivity and utilization
- Manage project profitability and gross margins
- Track committed costs and change orders
- Review weekly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports
- Assist with forecasting project cash flow
- Ensure timely billing and collections
- Review and approve project-related purchases and expenditures
- Identify and address cost overruns before they impact profitability
- Coordinate and develop accurate change orders for issuance to clients
Permitting & Project Administration
- Pull permits and coordinate inspections
- Maintain project documentation and records
- Review contracts, subcontracts, and project requirements
- Manage RFIs, submittals, and closeout documentation
- Track and process change orders
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements
- Maintain accurate project files and correspondence
Field Operations & Scheduling
- Schedule field personnel and manpower across active projects
- Coordinate labor allocation with Field Supervisors and Foremen
- Manage workforce planning to maximize efficiency and project performance
- Assist with labor forecasting and staffing needs
- Coordinate jobsite logistics and material deliveries
- Conduct regular project site visits
- Review project progress with field leadership
- Ensure crews have the resources necessary to execute work efficiently
Safety & Compliance
- Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization
- Attend all required project safety meetings
- Ensure field personnel comply with OSHA requirements and project safety standards
- Coordinate safety documentation and incident reporting
- Address safety concerns immediately and proactively
- Support company-wide safety initiatives and training efforts
Recruiting & Team Development
- Assist with sourcing and interviewing new field candidates
- Participate in hiring decisions for plumbers, helpers, and field staff
- Support onboarding and training efforts
- Mentor junior project management and field personnel
- Assist in developing future leaders within the organization
Business Operations
- Assist leadership with operational planning
- Standardize project management processes
- Identify opportunities for improved efficiency
- Support company growth initiatives
- Collaborate with estimating, field operations, and executive leadership
- Assist in implementing company systems and procedures
- Coordinate labor usage, staffing with GM
Qualifications Required
- 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience
- Experience managing plumbing, mechanical, or specialty contractor projects
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and project financials
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, labor, and project execution
- Experience with change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience leading field personnel and subcontractors
- Clear understanding of Construction Drawings and implementation in field
Preferred
- Commercial plumbing experience
- Experience with healthcare and medical gas projects
- Experience reading blueprints and isometric drawings
- OSHA certification
- Experience using ServiceTitan, Procore, Buildertrend, or similar construction software
- Experience leading project teams in a commercial construction environment
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to travel throughout Metro Atlanta and surrounding markets
- Ability to work in active construction environments
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
