Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology practice. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Ophthalmic Technician will assist in various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow and maintaining high standards of patient care.
```Duties:```
- Perform preliminary eye examinations and assessments, including taking patient histories and measuring visual acuity
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry, visual field testing, and retinal imaging
- Assist ophthalmologists in various procedures, including administering eye drops and medications
- Prepare patients for surgery and provide post-operative care instructions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment and instruments
- Provide patient education on eye care and contact lens use
```Requirements:```
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as an ophthalmic technician preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and ophthalmology procedures
- Experience working in a medical office or ophthalmology practice
- Familiarity with medical coding and billing practices
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (Epic experience is a plus)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality
