Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide companionship by engaging in conversations, hobbies, and recreational activities to promote mental well-being
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, noting changes in condition, and reporting concerns promptly
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Support medication reminders and help with medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing living spaces
- Utilize equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to assist with mobility and transfers for individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges
Requirements
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and hospice care practices
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks as needed
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or other special needs populations
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are often necessary for community-based caregiving roles
