Skills/ Qualifications Required
- Capable of receiving and following instructions and communicating with co-workers
- able to read and adhere to labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
- Great attention to detail and always alert to ensure safety
- (Framing & Finishing Skills) Build and install structures and fixtures, such as walls, floors, doors, windows, and molding. Also erect and dismantle scaffolding.
- Repair and renovate damaged or existing wooden structures.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials. Also take measurements and prepare the area for work needed to be completed
- Install floor joists, floorboards, roof trusses, and wall partitions. Also install cabinetry and cabinet hardware.
- Carpenters read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches and can interpret them to the work they are performing.
- Uses various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
- Valid driver's license
Summary: Carpenters are responsible for the successful completion of the job, which includes being on time, on budget, and maintaining a high level of quality. Carpenters use many different tools, including hand tools such as drills, squares, levels, chisels, etc... as well as many power tools such as sanders, circular saws, and nail guns. Carpenters also need to check their work to ensure that it is done correctly, up to our standard, and code compliant.
