We are seeking an experienced Materials Planner responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the procurement and movement of raw materials, purchased components, and production supplies to support manufacturing operations in a highly regulated Aerospace and Defense environment. This position ensures material availability while maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production schedules, meeting customer delivery requirements, and complying with AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and applicable military contract requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain material requirements plan (MRP) based on customer demand, production schedules, and forecasted requirements.
- Analyze material requirements to ensure uninterrupted production while minimizing excess inventory.
- Management of organization's documents, system baselines and engineering changes
- Will coordinate revision control and change order processing (ECO/ECRCreate, release, and monitor purchase requisitions and work orders.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to expedite critical materials and resolve supplier delivery issues.
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend appropriate stocking strategies.
- Review inventory shortages and develop recovery plans to prevent production delays.
- Work with Production Control to prioritize manufacturing orders based on customer commitments.
- Track supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Coordinate engineering changes (ECOs/ECNs) to ensure obsolete inventory is minimized.
- Review demand fluctuations and adjust planning parameters accordingly.
- Maintain accurate planning data within the ERP/MRP system.
- Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities.
- Analyze excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory and recommend corrective actions.
- Support government contract requirements, including material traceability and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 Quality Management System requirements.
- Coordinate material transfers between departments and facilities as required.
- Support internal and external audits related to inventory, procurement, and material planning.
- Prepare reports on inventory accuracy, shortages, supplier performance, and production support metrics.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory optimization and production efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with company policies regarding ITAR, Export Control, and government security requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and/or combination of work experience in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of materials planning in the aerospace, defense or military manufacturing.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems (Epicor or similar).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and inventory management.
- Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Inventory control and cycle count experience.
- Capacity planning and demand forecasting.
- Supplier management and expediting.
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with VLOOKUP formulas and similar
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) contracts, FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and EAR regulations is highly desirable.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident per ITAR regulations
