We are seeking a motivated Lab Pack Chemist to support hazardous waste management and environmental service projects throughout Northern New Jersey and New York City.
This is a hands-on, field-based position responsible for identifying, classifying, packaging, and preparing hazardous and non-hazardous materials for transportation and disposal. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and interested in building a long-term career within the environmental services industry while gaining valuable experience supporting industrial, laboratory, pharmaceutical, commercial, and institutional clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify, classify, package, and label hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials for proper transportation and disposal.
Perform lab packing activities in compliance with RCRA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and client-specific safety requirements.
Complete chemical inventories, waste characterization, and compatibility assessments.
Prepare manifests, shipping documents, waste profiles, and other regulatory paperwork.
Safely load, unload, and handle drums, containers, and hazardous materials using proper material handling procedures.
Work as part of a field team of 2–5 environmental professionals to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.
Travel daily to industrial, laboratory, pharmaceutical, commercial, and institutional client sites throughout Northern New Jersey and New York City.
Follow all company safety procedures and participate in site-specific safety programs.
Requirements:
1+ years of experience in hazardous waste management, lab packing, chemistry, environmental services, or a related field preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline preferred but not required.
Knowledge of chemical compatibility, hazardous waste classification, and proper waste handling procedures.
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification required.
DOT Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) and RCRA Hazardous Waste training required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in industrial, outdoor, and physically demanding environments.
Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Schedule & Compensation:
Monday–Friday schedule with consistent overtime opportunities.
5:00 AM–5:00 PM or 6:00 AM–6:00 PM schedule (approximately 60 hours/week)
$20.00–$22.00/hour
