At Magical Beginnings, we believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and engaging start to their educational journey. With care, we care — and that belief is at the heart of everything we do. As a trusted leader in early childhood education, our childcare and preschool centers create supportive learning environments where children are encouraged to explore, grow, and build confidence every day.
We’re currently seeking a compassionate and energetic Toddler Lead Teacher to join our Mt. Sinai center. This role is ideal for an early childhood educator who enjoys supporting toddler development through hands-on learning, structured routines, and meaningful social-emotional interactions during some of the most important years of early childhood growth.
As a Toddler Lead Teacher, you’ll lead a toddler classroom focused on creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate childcare environment while supporting children’s learning, communication, and independence.
- Planning and implementing age-appropriate toddler curriculum, classroom activities, and sensory learning experiences aligned with early childhood education best practices
- Creating a nurturing and structured toddler classroom environment that supports social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development
- Leading daily childcare routines including meals, diapering/toileting, naps, outdoor play, circle time, and classroom transitions
- Supervising toddlers throughout the day while maintaining active engagement, classroom management, and safe teacher-to-child ratios
- Encouraging language development, problem-solving, independence, and positive peer interactions through play-based learning
- Building strong relationships and open communication with families regarding daily activities, milestones, and developmental progress
- Collaborating with Assistant Teachers and center leadership to maintain a positive, team-oriented daycare and preschool environment
- Maintaining classroom cleanliness, organization, and sanitization in accordance with New York State childcare licensing regulations and health and safety standards
- Preparing lesson plans and classroom materials that promote exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning experiences
- Ensuring compliance with all OCFS childcare regulations, center policies, and early childhood education quality standards
- Supporting a positive childcare culture built on professionalism, teamwork, and a genuine passion for early childhood education
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Minimum of 9 college credits in Early Childhood Education (required for NYS OCFS Group Teacher qualification)
- 2+ years of experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or early education setting
- Strong understanding of toddler development and classroom management
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Willingness to complete all OCFS required trainings
- Availability to work Monday through Friday between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm
Payroll is processed weekly.
Here, your role as a Toddler Lead Teacher connects directly with our mission of high-quality early childhood education. By collaborating with teacher assistants, preschool teachers, and fellow caregivers, you’ll help create a strong educational community where infants thrive from the very beginning. We look forward to seeing you in the classroom!
