A bit about us
We believe coffee brings out the best in people. With passion and precision, we craft coffee as it should be: perfectly simple. We source our coffee from the most gifted roasters around and honor that heritage by elevating their flavor and letting it shine.
But, as the name implies, Roots Coffeehouse is a place, not a product. We want to be a gathering place grounded in community, where everyone can find comfort. Whether we're part of your day for a moment or much more, we look forward to crafting something perfect for you.
Simple Coffee, Perfected by People
That last part is where you come in. The coffee is already good by the time it reaches us — our job is the last ninety seconds, and that part sits entirely with our baristas.
Day to day, you'll:
- Pull and dial in espresso, steam milk, and build our menu by hand
- Brew pour-over and batch coffee that tastes the same on a Tuesday as it does on a Saturday
- Know the menu well enough to help someone find the drink they'll come back for
- Prep and serve food from our menu
- Run the register and close out accurately
- Keep the bar and the room clean, stocked, and welcoming
- Meet food safety and sanitation standards on every shift
What we're looking for
Experience behind a bar matters to us. Our whole promise rests on precision, and precision takes reps.
- Previous food service experience, ideally as a barista
- Comfortable pulling and dialing in espresso, and steaming milk you're proud of
- Familiar with brewing methods, and with how roast and origin change a cup
- Accurate on a register and with cash
- Confident with food safety and sanitation standards
Just as important, and harder to teach:
- You're warm with people — on a slow Tuesday and a packed Saturday
- You stay calm with six drinks up and a line to the door
- You'd rather explain a coffee than impress someone with it
- You notice the small things: a wiped wand, a stocked case, a regular's name
- You're someone a small team can count on
- You're around for some weekends and holidays — that's when a coffeehouse fills up

Pay runs $10–$15/hour depending on experience, availability, and what you take on.
