Tandem Behavioral Health is looking for a Clinical Lead to support our programs.
Clinical Lead — the senior clinical presence across both Tandem locations.
You’ll be the primary assessor for our Bedford Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit, and back up assessments for our Roanoke PHP and IOP programs when volume calls for it. You’ll own discharge planning for crisis clients. And you’ll be the person clinical staff at both sites come to when they’ve got a question and need an answer from someone who’s actually done the work.
Three days a week in Bedford. Two days a week in Roanoke. About an hour apart. Fully on site — this is a role that only works in the building.
Assess. Biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessment, level-of-care determination using ASAM criteria and Virginia Medicaid medical necessity. Primarily crisis at Bedford, backup for outpatient in Roanoke. Documented on time so authorizations aren’t waiting on you.
Plan the discharge from day one. Not day four. Every RCSU client gets a real discharge plan that starts at admission and moves as their picture changes — step-down into our PHP, IOP, or peer recovery programs when that fits, and to somebody else when it doesn’t. You’ll be the one making sure the handoff is warm and the follow-up is actually scheduled.
Be the clinical answer in the building. Counselors, QMHPs, peers, case managers, nursing, when they hit something complicated, you’re the consult. Presentation, risk, engagement, level-of-care fit. Within your scope, and consistent with policy.
Take the routine off the VP’s desk. You resolve the clinical questions that don’t need to travel up the chain, and you escalate the ones that do — immediately, without filtering, for anything involving safety, suspected abuse or neglect, or a serious incident.
Carry the on-call phone. Shared rotation covering both sites. After-hours clinical consultation, Crisis admission decisions, and on-site response when a situation can’t be handled by phone. $125 per week carried, on top of base.
We’re being specific about this because job titles with “Lead” in them tend to quietly turn into three jobs.
You will not supervise staff, approve timecards, run performance reviews, or handle discipline, that stays with the VP of Clinical Operations. You will not run chart audits or documentation compliance, that belongs to our Director of Clinical Compliance. And on-call here is clinical: staffing shortages and shift coverage go somewhere else.
You lead through clinical expertise and showing up, not through an org chart. If that sounds like a limitation, this isn’t your role. If it sounds like relief, keep reading.
Pay:
$75,000k-$85,000k + ($125/week on-call stipend) based on license and experience. Tandem does not ask applicants for salary history. In accordance with Virginia Code § 40.1-28.7:12, Tandem Behavioral Health does not request wage or salary history from applicants, from current or former employers, or from third-party services. You will not be asked for this information at any point in our hiring process, and declining to provide it will not affect your candidacy.
