POSITION OVERVIEW: Manage all repair and maintenance on all of SM Gallivan Companies’ heavy equipment. Manage all heavy equipment repair personnel, activities, and heavy equipment related readiness in Western NY.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Heavy Equipment Fleet:
1. Daily operations for the Western NY Repair Shops (heavy equipment/ truck/ trailer), and all field repairs.
2. Daily Heavy Equipment Repair Personnel management for Western NY.
3. Fielding calls from operators, along with working SMG, GRI, GRIM, FLMS Operations and Management to find solutions.
4. Taking direction and work with The Director of Heavy equipment and Management to keep SM Gallivan’s Heavy Equipment Fleet in the best working conditions.
5. Provide support and updates to the Director of Heavy Equipment and Operations regarding all equipment related issues.
6. Ensure equipment repairs are completed in a high-quality and timely manner.
7. Work with management to monitor and analyze opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiency.
8. Ability to efficiently order parts needed from approved vendors to maintain the shop needs.
9. Monitor equipment sent to outside vendors for repairs.
10. Ensure clean, safe working conditions of the facility and equipment.
11. Collaborate with the Director of Heavy Equipment, Safety, and other departments to investigate all safety and accident-related matters.
12. General service writing and record keeping for all repairs conducted pertaining to equipment at all locations.
13. Work with the Director of Fleet Operations, Fleet Repair and Maintenance Manager on truck and trailer related issues
14. Respond to all communications from management in a timely manner.
15. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
16. Perform other duties as required.
Staffing:
1. Plan daily staffing for shop and field repair team, monitor, and direct staffing to meet workload for Western NY.
2. Work with Director of Heavy Equipment and Management to monitor employee performance, provide corrective action.
3. Perform administrative functions, including but not limited to, payroll approval, scanner downloads, repair order maintenance and compliance documentation (such as self-audits and inventory controls) for Western NY.
4. Perform other duties as required.
The SM Gallivan Heavy Equipment Manager Western NY will work hand in hand with the Director of Heavy Equipment, operators, Operations, and facility managers to identify, isolate, and offer repair solutions both in the shops and in the field. The Heavy Equipment Manager will report directly to the Director of Heavy Equipment and operations to offer the safest and most effective solutions to issues that may arise. The Director of Heavy Equipment will collaborate with the Director of Business Functions and Sourcing to efficiently source parts and goods required for proper equipment maintenance. The SM Gallivan Heavy Equipment Manager will communicate/ discuss opportunities for growth and focus, along with implementing new and existing company policies.
