Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional patient service, and supporting various administrative functions. This position requires proficiency in medical terminology, familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a strong commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Assist with patient intake and scheduling appointments using EHR systems such as Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Perform collection copay and balance.
- Verify insurance information and manage medical collections to ensure timely payments.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review to support patient care plans.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers to enhance patient service.
- Assist in the management of front desk operations, including greeting patients and managing inquiries.
- Support health information management processes within the clinic or hospital environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, schedule and insurance verification processes.
- Bilingual candidates are highly desirable for effective communication with diverse patient populations.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and filing processes.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
