Snow Removal Skid Steer Operator
Torchwood Landscaping — Grand Rapids, MI Area
We’re Looking for the Person Who Gets It Done Right
Running a skid steer during a snowstorm takes more than knowing how to move snow.
You need to be able to operate equipment carefully, work efficiently, understand where snow needs to go, protect curbs and landscaping, and pay attention to the details that keep us from having to come back later.
Most importantly, you have to show up.
When a storm hits, our customers are counting on us. That means we're counting on you.
Torchwood Landscaping is looking for a dependable, experienced Skid Steer Operator to join our snow removal team in the Grand Rapids area.
What You'll Do
- Operate skid steers and snow removal attachments
- Clear parking lots, driveways, and other paved surfaces
- Push, stack, and relocate snow according to property requirements
- Work around curbs, landscaping, buildings, vehicles, and other obstacles
- Follow property-specific snow removal plans
- Maintain clean edges and thorough coverage
- Work efficiently without sacrificing quality
- Perform equipment inspections and report mechanical issues
- Work with salt truck operators and sidewalk crews as part of a larger team
- Help make sure properties are completed correctly before leaving
- Work independently for extended periods when necessary
The Person We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who understands that snow removal is a responsibility, not just a job.
You should be:
- Extremely dependable
- Comfortable working in cold, snowy, and icy conditions
- Experienced operating a skid steer
- Detail-oriented
- Able to work independently
- Comfortable working nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts during storms
- Careful around customer property
- Able to follow directions and property-specific instructions
- Willing to take ownership when something needs to be fixed
- Calm under pressure
- Hardworking and resilient
- Humble and willing to take direction
- Someone who takes pride in doing quality work
We Care About the Details
Anyone can push a pile of snow.
A good operator knows where the snow should go, how much room to leave, what to avoid, and what the finished property should look like.
We don't want operators who rush through a property just to move on to the next one.
We want someone who finishes a property, looks it over, and thinks:
"Yep. That's done right."
Because the goal isn't to have to come back tomorrow and fix what we missed tonight.
This Job Isn't for Everyone
If you don't like the cold, this isn't for you.
If you aren't dependable, this isn't for you.
If you need someone constantly telling you what to do, this probably isn't for you.
If you take shortcuts when nobody is watching, this definitely isn't for you.
But if you're the person people can count on when things get difficult, we want to meet you.
Experience
Skid steer experience is strongly preferred. Snow removal experience is a plus.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
Why Torchwood Landscaping?
We're building a team of people who are reliable, hardworking, mature, and proud of what they do.
We believe the people on our team matter, and we want people who want to be part of a team they can be proud of.
If you're ready to work hard, handle the weather, and be someone we can count on when the storm hits, apply today.
When the snow comes, we show up.
Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
