About the Role
DACUT Cannabis is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Accountant to own and manage the company's day-to-day accounting and financial operations. As the primary accounting professional supporting our Michigan operations, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing timely financial insights that support strategic business decisions.
This is a hands-on position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys owning the full accounting function. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working independently while partnering closely with executive leadership, operations, and external accounting partners to support the company's continued growth.
Essential Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting

Own the month-end and year-end close processes from start to finish, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.

Maintain the company's general ledger and ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions.

Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and all balance sheet accounts.

Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

Oversee accounts payable, including vendor invoice processing and payment scheduling.

Manage accounts receivable, customer invoicing, collections, and payment reconciliation.

Ensure timely processing of financial transactions while maintaining strong internal controls.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis

Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Prepare variance analyses and provide recommendations to executive leadership.

Monitor financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

Recommend process improvements that increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Compliance & Auditing

Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Coordinate tax preparation activities with outside accounting firms and tax advisors.

Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate documentation and financial records.

Assist with financial reporting requests from executive leadership.
Payroll & Business Support

Process payroll and maintain accurate payroll records, as applicable.

Collaborate with department leaders to support financial planning and decision-making.

Provide financial insights and recommendations that support business growth and operational success.
Qualifications
Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, and internal controls.

Advanced proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and integrity.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with leadership.
Preferred

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.

Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or other accounting certifications are a plus.

Experience in manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), agriculture, cannabis, or another highly regulated industry.

Experience supporting audits, tax preparation, and financial process improvements.

Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth organization.
