Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control, and chairside assisting techniques. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Manage appointment scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed, including dental receptionist tasks.
- Monitor vital signs and assist in medical imaging as required.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for efficient patient management.
- Support pediatric dentistry procedures with knowledge of child behavior management techniques.
- Uphold aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience in a dental clinic setting, demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology.
- Experience with various dental specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
- Proficiency in using 3D scanners and other dental technology.
- Knowledge of medical coding, medical records management, and documentation practices.
- Previous experience working with EMR systems such as Epic is a plus.
