Job Summary
EDU-AIDs is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of students while supporting a positive and inclusive learning environment. The School Nurse will collaborate with educators, families, and healthcare providers to ensure students receive the medical support they need to succeed academically.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to students, including first aid, illness assessment, emergency care, and health counseling.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) for students with chronic medical conditions.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to support student health and educational success.
- Participate in IEP and Section 504 meetings when appropriate to address students' healthcare needs.
- Conduct required health screenings, including vision, hearing, and other state-mandated screenings.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and implement emergency response procedures.
- Promote health education, wellness, disease prevention, and infection control throughout the school community.
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Previous school nursing, pediatric, public health, or community health experience preferred.
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, IEPs, and school health regulations is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, school staff, and healthcare providers.
