Job Title: ON-CALL COVER DRIVER FOR SPECIAL NEEDS ADULTS
Job Summary: MUST BE 25 OR (OLDER) FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES!
The Adult Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities between their homes, day programs, community activities, and other approved locations. The driver ensures passengers are transported safely, comfortably, and on time while providing respectful and professional service.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport adults to and from day programs, medical appointments, and community activities.
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed.
- Ensure all passengers are properly secured using seat belts or wheelchair restraints.
- Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections and report any maintenance issues.
- Maintain accurate transportation logs and incident reports.
- Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Communicate professionally with participants, families, and program staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Current CHP (VDDP) Certification (if required by employer).
- Drugs and alcohol clearance.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and assist passengers when necessary.
- Current Driving Record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely operate a passenger van or other transportation vehicle.
- Ability to assist individuals with mobility needs.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
Work Schedule:
On call cover Driver positions available. Hours may include mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings depending on program needs.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
