Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Review and accurately assign medical codes using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems for various medical procedures and diagnoses.
- Prepare and submit healthcare claims efficiently using billing software integrated with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems.
- Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records, ensuring all documentation complies with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing discrepancies or inquiries with professionalism and clarity.
- Stay updated on health insurance policies, coding changes, and billing regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy in all transactions.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools for reporting, data analysis, and record keeping as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of healthcare claims management processes.
- Familiarity with DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and ICD coding practices.
- Hands-on experience working with EMR/EHR systems and billing software platforms.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and health insurance procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Prior medical office experience is preferred but not mandatory; a strong willingness to learn is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining accuracy under deadlines.
