Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of clinical and administrative duties, with experience across various medical specialties including dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, and internal medicine. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care, managing medical documentation, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your expertise in medical procedures, EHR systems, and patient service will contribute to delivering exceptional healthcare experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, and documenting clinical notes accurately.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, X-ray processing, and basic life support procedures to support patient treatment plans.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by updating patient information, coding diagnoses with ICD codes, and maintaining precise medical documentation.
- Facilitate patient intake processes by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and addressing patient inquiries professionally.
- Support medical office management through scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Assist in specialized areas such as dermatology clinics or emergency medicine settings, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in inpatient settings like ICU or trauma centers to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment by adhering to infection control practices and sanitation guidelines at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with proficiency in medical assisting procedures across diverse specialties including dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or internal medicine.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology necessary for accurate documentation and patient care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management is essential for maintaining precise medical records.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or X-ray technician training are advantageous.
- Experience working in inpatient environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or PICU is preferred for specialized roles.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse populations.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced settings while maintaining attention to detail and adhering to safety standards.
