Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fitness Manager to lead our fitness center operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, management, and customer service skills, along with a comprehensive understanding of retail and fitness industry practices. This role involves overseeing daily activities, managing staff, and ensuring an exceptional experience for members. The Fitness Manager will play a pivotal role in driving membership growth, maintaining facility standards, and fostering a motivating environment for both staff and clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the fitness center team, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff members.
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to increase membership and retail sales.
- Manage daily operations, including shift management, inventory control, and scheduling.
- Oversee customer service initiatives to ensure member satisfaction and retention.
- Handle administrative tasks such as payroll, bookkeeping, budgeting, and store management.
- Coordinate marketing efforts to promote programs, classes, and special events.
- Maintain facility cleanliness, safety standards, and equipment maintenance.
- Conduct employee orientation sessions and ongoing training & development programs.
- Manage POS systems, purchasing processes, pricing strategies, and retail merchandising.
- Utilize organizational skills to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency.
- Engage in community outreach and promotional activities to attract new members.
Experience
- Proven management experience within the fitness or retail industry with strong leadership skills.
- Experience in employee recruitment, interviewing, training & development, and team management.
- Skilled in negotiation, sales management, customer service excellence, and marketing strategies.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems, POS operations, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and cash handling.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee budgeting processes and manage retail math effectively.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse clientele better.
- Prior assistant manager or supervisory experience in a fitness or retail setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills coupled with organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
