Position Summary
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Auburn Downtown is seeking a dependable, hardworking Houseman/Groundskeeper to join our team. This position plays a vital role in creating a clean, welcoming environment for our guests by maintaining the hotel's public areas, exterior grounds, and landscaping.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, enjoys working both indoors and outdoors, and is comfortable performing physically active tasks throughout the day.
Essential Responsibilities: Interior Public Areas
- Maintain the cleanliness of all hotel public spaces, including the lobby, breakfast area, hallways, public restrooms, elevators, fitness center, meeting room, and employee areas.
- Vacuum, mop, dust, sanitize, and polish surfaces as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the property.
- Clean windows, glass doors, and other high-touch surfaces.
- Restock public restroom supplies.
- Respond promptly to spills and guest service requests.
Exterior & Parking Lot
- Keep the parking lot, sidewalks, entrances, and exterior areas clean and free of litter.
- Empty outdoor trash receptacles.
- Remove debris, leaves, and other hazards from walkways.
- Monitor the property for maintenance or safety concerns and report issues promptly.
- Assist with snow and ice removal during winter weather when needed.
Landscaping (Spring & Summer)
- Mow lawns and edge sidewalks.
- Trim shrubs, bushes, and hedges.
- Pull weeds and maintain flower beds.
- Help maintain an attractive curb appeal throughout the property.
Additional Duties
- Set up meeting rooms as needed.
- Help move furniture or equipment when requested.
- Support the maintenance and housekeeping departments with various projects.
- Follow all hotel safety procedures and brand cleanliness standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous hotel, housekeeping, janitorial, landscaping, or maintenance experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to communicate professionally with guests and coworkers.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Operate landscaping and cleaning equipment safely.
