Employee Duties & Responsibilities
The Product Development Technician is vital to the Product Development Department by creating/upkeeping CAD Documentation, providing plant support to ensure accurate product specification, while also aiding the development team in various aspects of creating new products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gathers all necessary data and design input needed to complete tasks.
- Drafts Product designs according to companies’ specifications and standards
- Maintains CAD Documents efficiently within our Product Data Management environment.
- Executes independent judgment and skill to manipulate documentation to achieve most effective solution possible.
- Supports Product Development team in documentation support for new & existing projects.
- Provides plant support to ensure the product specifications are accurate and able to be accessed.
- Interacts with 3D Printers by running & supporting equipment.
- Assists Engineers in construction & testing prototypes to verify product reliability.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED acceptable.
- Technical Training (CAD) Certificate or 2 Year Engineering Design Degree - Associate's Degree preferred.
- Proficient in working within SolidWorks & SolidWorks PDM.
- Familiarity with 3D printer operations.
- Working knowledge of ADDA drafting standards.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
- Self-motivated and highly productive.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as rulers and calipers.
- Working knowledge of Geometry and Trigonometry mathematics.
- Basic understanding of plastic and metal part design.
- Basic knowledge of fasteners.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting.
- Occasional work on the manufacturing production floor.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Fast paced manufacturing facility. This job operates primarily in a lab/office setting with occasional work on the manufacturing floor. Some areas may require additional Personal Protective Equipment for safety compliance.
