Job Summary
We're looking for experienced paint/coatings mixers and stain matchers to join our paint studio! We are looking for a bright, positive individual with a stellar work ethic to add to our team. The Paint/Coatings Production Specialist is the technical heart of our Phoenix finishing operation. You’ll take color orders from fan deck selections or physical samples and mix them to perfection, validating each match before it leaves the studio. This role combines technical craftsmanship with customer-facing communication, and it’s a foundation for growth within our organization for the right person.
In addition to color studio responsibilities, this role also supports general warehouse operations as needed. We’re a lean, team-oriented environment and everyone contributes across the floor.
Duties and responsibilities
- Interpret fan deck selections or physical samples to identify target formulations
- Mix and tint paints, stains, and coatings using DataColor and Corob systems
- Validate every batch for color accuracy visually before release; no order leaves until it’s right
- Formulate custom and existing color stain and finish requests; record all formulations with precision in the order management system
- Communicate directly with sales, customer service and customers to clarify matching requirements, set expectations, and resolve issues when they arise
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio environment; follow all VOC and hazmat handling protocols
- Support continuous improvement of studio workflows and contribute to team knowledge and training over time
- Fulfill general warehouse duties as needed, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping — this is a team environment and everyone contributes across the floor
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a paint mixer, color matcher, or coatings specialist
- Hands-on experience with tinting and mixing equipment; DataColor or Corob experience a strong plus
- Strong color discrimination ability, able to distinguish subtle differences in hue, value, and chroma.
- Knowledge of paints, stains, and wood finishing products
- Comfortable using computer software for order entry and formulation recordkeeping
- Clear communicator who is able to explain technical color issues in plain terms to customers and sales staff
- High teachability: open to learning new systems, products, and methods as our studio evolves
Physical Demands and Abilities
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
- Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 70 lbs.
- Ability to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch
- Position may require climbing of ladders for top-level selection
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

Hours
- Monday through Friday between the hours of 7AM to 7PM depending on work needs.
