A growing manufacturer of highly engineered components is seeking a Sustaining Engineer to support existing products, resolve production-related technical issues, and drive product and process improvements.
This position will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to evaluate product concerns, support design changes, and improve manufacturability, performance, cost, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical design foundation and experience solving technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues involving existing products and production requirements.

Perform root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive actions.

Evaluate product designs, engineering drawings, and specifications.

Support the review and disposition of nonconforming materials and components.

Determine whether dimensional or manufacturing deviations affect product form, fit, function, or performance.

Develop and implement product design improvements.

Support value engineering initiatives focused on reducing cost, improving cycle time, and increasing manufacturability.

Maintain and update CAD models, drawings, specifications, and other engineering documentation.

Review and support the implementation of engineering changes.

Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to troubleshoot production issues.

Identify opportunities to improve product quality, reliability, yield, and operational efficiency.

Analyze technical data and production feedback to identify recurring issues.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Communicate technical findings and engineering recommendations to internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Three or more years of experience in sustaining engineering, mechanical design, product engineering, or a related role.

Strong mechanical design and engineering fundamentals.

Experience resolving product or production-related technical issues.

Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or a comparable platform.

Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

Ability to evaluate design intent and the functional impact of manufacturing deviations.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Experience with precision-machined or engineered mechanical components.

Experience supporting material review or nonconformance processes.

Familiarity with product lifecycle management systems.

Experience working with ERP or MRP systems.

Value engineering or cost-reduction experience.

Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.

Knowledge of regulated quality systems and industry standards.
This position operates in both an office and manufacturing environment. The role may require occasional exposure to production-floor conditions and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
