About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to support Outside Plant (OSP) construction and maintenance work in the San Jose / Bay Area. Our primary client is Comcast, and this role will support HFC node splits, Metro E, MDU projects, and emergency call-out repairs.
Most work will take place in the South and West Bay, as well as San Francisco.
This position is ideal for a self-motivated technician who is comfortable working independently, understands Comcast standards, and can perform high-quality splicing work in live network environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fiber optic splicing (fusion and mechanical) in aerial, underground, and MDU environments
- Support HFC node splits, node grooming, and related fiber work
- Complete Metro Ethernet (Metro E) fiber splicing, testing, and turn-ups
- Perform MDU fiber builds, upgrades, and repairs
- Respond to emergency call-out repairs, including fiber cuts and service outages
- Prep, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables and splice enclosures
- Conduct OTDR and power meter testing, interpret results, and document findings
- Maintain clean, organized splice enclosures per Comcast construction standards
- Accurately complete daily production reports, redlines, and closeout documentation
- Follow all OSHA, NESC, and Comcast safety requirements
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of fiber splicing experience (OSP preferred)
- Hands-on experience working on Comcast networks
- Strong knowledge of HFC node splits and fiber distribution
- Experience with Metro E and MDU fiber projects
- Proficient with fusion splicers, OTDRs, and fiber test equipment
- Ability to read and interpret construction prints and schematics
- Comfortable working in aerial and underground environments
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to participate in after-hours and emergency call-out rotation
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years OSP fiber splicing experience
- Experience with live network remediation and outage response
- Bucket truck experience and/or aerial certifications
- Familiarity with Comcast QC and closeout processes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Pay: $60,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
