American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Oncology Telemetry position requiring a compact or Ohio RN license and 2 years of current acute care experience in the specialty.

Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry oncology unit of a cancer hospital and research center
-
Care for adult and geriatric patients with solid tumor cancers including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer
-
Support patients through the full cancer journey from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life care
-
Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be up to 1:5
-
Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30), with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period

Weekend scheduling varies based on unit needs

Floating required to other MedSurg Oncology units
-
Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
-
Uses Epic for computerized charting

Active compact or Ohio RN license in hand at time of consideration

Current BLS certification required
-
ONS Chemo certification preferred
-
2 years of current acute care experience required, with consistent work in the specialty within the last 12 months
-
Oncology experience preferred but not required

Epic charting experience required

Skills required include telemetry interpretation and monitoring, IV therapy/phlebotomy, accessing and managing ports, central line blood draw, starting and maintaining IVs, and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation and management

Preferred skills include chemotherapy administration and tracheostomy care/management

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program

Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to oncology patients with true med-surg needs
-

Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less

Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract, either by driving to a local fingerprinting location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet if located far from Ohio
