Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring to ensure timely dish assembly
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling salads, garnishes, and side dishes according to recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, utensils, and storage areas in compliance with food safety regulations
- Support the cooking team by following established procedures for food handling and meal assembly
- Help with inventory management by rotating stock and notifying supervisors of low supplies or expired items
- Follow all safety protocols related to knife skills, food handling, and sanitation practices
- Contribute to menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
Experience
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Kitchen experience in restaurants or the food industry is preferred; familiarity with food service operations is a plus
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Skilled in basic cooking techniques and meal preparation methods
- Experience with catering or large-scale food service environments is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and quality
- Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various kitchen tools are beneficial
