About Us:
Silver Creek Modular provides modular building services and support throughout California. Our Service / Field Crew team plays a critical role in transporting modular buildings, oversized units, and materials, as well as supporting on-site operations to ensure successful project completion.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Class A Heavy Haul Truck Driver with proven background in transporting modular buildings and wide-load / oversize structures using lowboy, RGN, and similar trailers. This role is responsible for safely hauling modular building units and oversized components to job sites, coordinating movement with escort/pilot vehicles when required, and ensuring full compliance with DOT and state safety standards.
This position is not intended for retail, route, or local delivery drivers. Applicants must have prior heavy haul or modular transport experience.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles to transport modular buildings and oversize components.
Plan and execute wide-load / oversize moves, including permits and escort coordination.
Secure and balance loads using chains, straps, binders, and related equipment.
Operate lowboy, RGN, and step deck trailers as required.
Perform and document daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Maintain communication with dispatch, Service Coordinator, and field supervisors.
Coordinate with pilot cars and permitting agencies for oversized loads.
Assist Field Crew on job sites as needed, including positioning units, staging, and unloading.
Represent Silver Creek Modular professionally with customers, vendors, and partners.
Follow all DOT, state, and company safety rules, including PPE and site expectations.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of heavy haul, lowboy, or modular transport experience.
- Demonstrated experience hauling modular buildings or oversized structures.
- Experience with wide-load and overweight permits and escort coordination.
- Ability to work in outdoor construction environments.
- Experience operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of load securement and DOT compliance requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for loading, unloading, and securement tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety, professionalism, and company standards at all times.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
Applicants with only retail, food service, or local delivery experience may not be considered.
Schedule & Travel:
Primarily Monday through Friday with occasional early starts and weekends.
Regional travel within California.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $29.50 to $33.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, relevant experience, internal equity, and market data.
