Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, dementia, autism, and other health conditions. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans and ensure proper medication storage and documentation.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Support residents during recreational activities, social outings, and community integration efforts to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
- Maintain a safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties, adhering to infection control protocols, and ensuring all safety equipment is functional.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to develop and update personalized care plans that reflect each resident’s goals and preferences.
Experience
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s care), memory care practices, and hospice or home health settings is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with patient monitoring tools such as vital signs measurement and medication administration is essential.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism enhances your ability to provide tailored support.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are a plus.
- Experience with heavy lifting equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident transfer techniques is beneficial for ensuring safe mobility assistance.
