Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Grader Operator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will operate heavy grading equipment to shape and level land according to project specifications, ensuring the foundation for successful construction projects. Responsibilities
- Operate motor graders and other heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, and backhoes to perform precise grading, excavation, and site preparation tasks
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment in accordance with federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures
- Follow detailed construction plans and grading specifications to ensure accurate land leveling and surface contouring
- Assist with utility locating and utility utility work to ensure proper installation of underground services before grading begins
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and construction site protocols
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to coordinate activities and meet project deadlines
- Document work progress, complete shift reports, and report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly
Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery including graders, excavators, loaders, backhoes, and Caterpillar equipment
- Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues and performing basic maintenance tasks
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations, safety regulations, and equipment safety procedures
- Skilled in construction grading, excavation, utility locating, and general site preparation techniques
- Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications accurately
- Valid commercial truck driving license with experience in commercial driving preferred
- Construction site experience with a focus on utility work and heavy equipment operation
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and ensuring safety compliance
- Demonstrated understanding of construction utility work, excavation processes, and heavy machinery operation
