Position Summary:
This position is responsible for coding interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology services in both Global and Professional settings.
The Coding Specialist abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, MIPS codes and modifiers to patient records according to established procedures. The specialist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field; relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of tasks; and works under general supervision. This position typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

This is a sedentary role, sitting and/or standing and working at a computer for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day as a full-time employee.
- Accurately assign codes to medical procedures
- Correctly assign and sequence codes per coding guidelines and insurance regulations
- Follow medical coding guidelines and policies.
- Identify and correct coding errors when found. Notifies coding feedback to Coding Manager.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- High school education or equivalent
- 2 years previous radiology coding experience
- One of the following coding certifications is required: CPC, RCC, or CCS.
- Requires medical terminology experience or education
- Computer operating systems experience current Windows version.
- Computer software programs in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to type and use a 10-key accurately
- Requires at least 2 years' experience in coding or medical records using ICD and CPT coding systems.
Preferred Education and Experience
- RCCIR or CIRCC coding certificates
