Part-Time In-Home Autism Support Educator
We are looking for a patient, engaging, and dependable educator to spend one-on-one time with our amazing 9-year-old daughter in our home in the Des Moines metro area.
This is not a traditional tutoring position. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships with children, creating structure, encouraging communication, and helping a child thrive through everyday activities and learning opportunities.
About Our Daughter
Our daughter is one of the sweetest, goofiest, and most gentle kids you'll ever meet. She loves being outdoors, swimming, Play-Doh, Legos, dolls, crafts, and imaginative play. She benefits from structure, consistency, and meaningful one-on-one engagement.
She is autistic and communicates in her own unique ways. We're looking for someone who is patient, curious, and excited to connect with her where she is rather than expecting her to fit into a specific mold.
What We're Looking For
- Special Education Teacher (current or retired)
- Special Education Student or Graduate Student
- Autism Support Professional
- Teacher, Paraeducator, or Behavioral Support Professional
- Experience with autism preferred but not required for the right person
Responsibilities
- Engage in educational and developmental activities
- Support communication and social growth
- Create structured, positive routines
- Participate in outdoor play and community activities
- Encourage independence and confidence
- Collaborate with parents on goals and progress
Schedule
Flexible part-time hours (approximately 5–15 hours per week). Afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends available.
Compensation
Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications. Typical range: $25–$50+ per hour.
