American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a combined MS/ICU/IMC unit position at a Level IV trauma acute care facility, with ICU and pediatric experience preferred and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required.

Combined MS/ICU/IMC unit within an acute care hospital setting, Level IV trauma designation
-
20-bed unit serving a diverse patient population including elderly adults and stable pediatric patients
-
Common diagnoses include cardiac (CHF, AFib RVR, bradycardia), pulmonary (pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure), neuro (TIA, stroke, falls, detox), GI (GI bleed, SBO, pancreatitis), GU (UTI, AKI, kidney stones), ortho (hip/shoulder/knee fractures and surgeries), sepsis, and outpatient infusion services

Pediatric patients include stable respiratory illness requiring IV meds, post-op appendectomy, and dehydration with IV hydration
-
Nurse-to-patient ratios: MS 1:5 days / 1:6 nights, IMC 1:4, ICU 1:2, Peds 1:3–4

CNAs are on the unit with a ratio of approximately 1 CNA per 8–10 patients on days and nights
-
RNs are required to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, PCA fentanyl, propofol, and norepinephrine
-
Telemetry is remotely monitored by tele techs in Weston; RNs must be able to read rhythm strips independently as needed

Tele monitors are GE ApexPro CH
-
RT staff available 24/7; respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, Servo-U, and Hamilton ventilators

EMR is Cerner (transitioning to Epic)

12-hour day shifts, 0700–1930

Every other weekend required

Every other holiday required

On-call/standby rotation required during low census (rare occurrences)

Floating required within the facility to ED, UC, and PACU, as well as interfacility to Park Falls and Weston locations

Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
-
Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA)

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

ICU experience required; pediatric experience strongly preferred

Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently

Cerner EMR experience beneficial as facility is transitioning to Epic
-
2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years in the relevant specialty

Charge nurses take a patient assignment; house supervisors round throughout the building without a direct patient assignment
-
Orientation consists of approximately 1 day of computer-based training and hospital orientation, followed by 1–2 days of on-shift orientation

Navy scrubs required for RNs

Candidates who have previously worked for Marshfield as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date, and hospital approval is required

Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect pay rate eligibility
