The Athletic and Recreation Program Assistant is a part-time position within the Sports Division of the Village of Pleasant Prairie’s Recreation Department.This position will primarily supervise sports programming at RecPlex, Prairie Springs Park, and Pleasant Prairie Park. This position will be scheduled 12 – 15 hours per week and will require availability on weeknights and weekends.
Job Duties

Supervises assigned recreation activities at the RecPlex or Village parks.

Set up and tear down activities as needed.

Assists with the marketing of RecPlex sports programming through flyer and sign distribution.

Collaborates with multiple departments of the recreation department operations.

Assists with the recruitment of officials for various athletics & recreation programs and ensures officials are on time as scheduled.

Completes incident forms as needed during programming.

Assists with organizing uniforms and uniform distribution to teams.

Participates in and may assist with scheduled in-service training and staff meetings.
- Occasionally assists in ballfield maintenance during scheduled tournaments in summer season.

Contributes to a positive work culture, promotes teamwork, and provides excellent service to the community.

Responds in a friendly and professional manner when dealing with participants, spectators, coaches, officials, parents or patron inquiries, or complaints.

Adheres to all Village, Department, and RecPlex rules, regulations, policies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines.

Performs other duties and special assignments as directed within the scope of the RecPlex Athletics and Recreation Department.
Physical:

Frequent public interaction requires the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Ability to work outside for an extended period of time, in wet or muddy areas, and able to tolerate fluctuations in temperature while performing duties and to work for long periods of time requiring sustained physical activity and concentration.

Frequently sitting, walking, standing, skating, typing and movement about the RecPlex building and office spaces.

Occasionally requires the ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl and carry or lift a range of weight up to 50 pounds.
Educational, Certificates and Experience:
-
Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Experience or familiarity with sports & recreation facilities and programs.
-
Required to obtain CPR/AED and Standard First Aid Certification upon hire.

Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills for working with a diverse population including other employees, public officials, and the general public.
