Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Warehouse Forklift Trainer to lead the development and delivery of comprehensive forklift operation training programs within our distribution center. This role is vital in ensuring that all warehouse staff are equipped with the necessary skills, safety knowledge, and compliance understanding to operate forklifts efficiently and responsibly. Duties
- Design, develop, and implement engaging forklift training curricula utilizing instructional design principles such as ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) to meet operational needs.
- Deliver hands-on forklift operation training sessions using effective teaching methods tailored for adult learners, ensuring comprehension and skill mastery.
- Utilize learning technology platforms such as LMS (Learning Management System) and e-learning platforms to create instructional content and track trainee progress.
- Conduct employee orientation sessions focused on forklift safety protocols, operational procedures, and compliance standards.
- Develop and manage training programs aligned with enterprise learning management strategies, including e-learning course content development and instructional content creation.
- Assess trainee performance through evaluations, practical demonstrations, and feedback collection to ensure competency standards are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate with HR teams on talent management initiatives like succession planning and performance management by identifying skill gaps and designing targeted training interventions.
- Maintain accurate training records, generate reports on training effectiveness, and continuously improve program quality based on data analysis.
- Stay current with industry best practices in warehouse safety, instructional technology, and adult education techniques to enhance training effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in developing employee training programs within a human resources or logistics environment.
- Strong expertise in instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE and adult learning theories.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging classroom instruction combined with technical training on forklift operation.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms, enterprise learning management systems, Adobe Captivate, Microsoft Office Suite, and other learning technology tools.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, safety regulations, OSHA standards related to forklift operation, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and confidently to diverse audiences.
- Experience in curriculum development for professional development or corporate training settings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Leadership qualities that foster team collaboration, mentoring capabilities for new trainers or trainees, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of recent powered industrial truck experience in a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, or 3PL environment.
- Clamp truck operating experience is required.
- Must be able to safely and proficiently operate a clamp truck.
- Ability to operate multiple types of powered industrial trucks.
- Previous experience training, coaching, or evaluating forklift operators strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse safety practices and powered industrial truck requirements.
- Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and train employees on SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain electronic training records.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift trainer, warehouse trainer, lead, or supervisor experience.
- Train-the-Trainer or powered industrial truck instructor certification.
- High-volume distribution or 3PL experience.
- Familiarity with OSHA powered industrial truck requirements.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.

- Accurate training documentation.
- Reduction in equipment incidents, near misses, rack damage, and product damage.
- Consistent compliance with IDC safety standards and warehouse SOPs.
- Effective onboarding and development of forklift operators.
- Must work 100% onsite at the Bath, PA warehouse.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and repeatedly mount/dismount powered industrial trucks.
- Ability to work safely around moving equipment, docks, trailers, racking, and active warehouse operations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required.
- Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures.
