Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Material Specialist to join our supply chain and warehouse operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing inventory levels, sourcing materials, and optimizing procurement processes to ensure seamless production and distribution. Your expertise will drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall supply chain performance. Duties
- Oversee warehouse distribution activities, including inventory control, stocking, shipping, and receiving to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP platforms such as AS400 and SAP to track materials flow, analyze data, and generate reports.
- Conduct data mining and analytics using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL, and Nielsen to identify trends, forecast demand, and support demand planning initiatives.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors through negotiation and sourcing strategies to secure competitive pricing and favorable contracts.
- Perform root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies or process inefficiencies to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage logistics inventory management, including 3PL (third-party logistics) providers, freight shipping & receiving, and materials handling operations.
- Support procurement activities by analyzing pricing models, financial analysis, and developing procurement strategies aligned with category management principles.
Skills
- Extensive experience in warehouse operations including inventory management software, warehouse management systems (WMS), and ERP systems like AS400 or SAP.
- Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Excel data analysis, SQL queries, Power BI, Tableau, and other data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of supply chain management practices such as demand planning, sourcing, logistics inventory management, and production planning.
- Excellent negotiation skills paired with supplier management experience to optimize procurement costs and build strategic partnerships.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives using analytics tools to enhance operational efficiency.
- Hands-on experience with forklift operation, materials handling equipment, shipping & receiving processes, and heavy lifting safety protocols.
- Technical proficiency in supply chain analytics including MRP (Material Requirements Planning), financial modeling, pricing strategies, and contract management.
