We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer who is as comfortable with electromechanical and pneumatic design for industrial automation as they are with leading a small, enthusiastic team of engineers and shop floor personnel. The right candidate will be just as comfortable working on a design from their CAD workstation as they are going down to the shop floor and making sure that the right team members are working on the right projects, helping to ensure that our industrial automation systems are on the right track towards completion.
Responsibilities Include:
- Taking design directives and turning them into real, ready-to-manufacture designs for industrial automation systems primarily meant to automatically load and unload CNC machines.
- Help run the floor: schedule work, assign tasks, remove blockers, and ensure that our small volume of specialized automation systems continue to progress.
- Build team capability: write SOPs/work instructions; train, delegate, and enforce accountability.
- Provide supervisory guidance to a small team of junior engineers and help them develop their engineering skillsets.
Requirements:
- 7–10 years of industrial automation mechanical engineering experience.
- 7–10 years of mechanical design experience with SolidWorks (assemblies, drawings, good mechanical aptitude).
- Experience leading or supervising a team of engineers or staff in the field of industrial automation or engineering.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and prioritization skills.
Nice to Have:
- CNC programming or macro experience.
- PLC or controls experience.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
