Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School Teacher specializing in Math and Science to inspire and educate students during their formative years. Must have NYS certification in math or science education, or a master's degree in either of these.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating educational technology and IT-integrated lessons to enhance student engagement.
- Deliver engaging classroom instruction in math subjects such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, differential equations, and proof-based mathematics.
- Teach science topics including biology (cell biology, genetics, molecular biology), chemistry (organic chemistry, biochemistry), microbiology, laboratory techniques (dissection, working with research laboratories), and scientific research methodologies.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning environment that respects students from diverse cultural backgrounds and accommodates various learning styles.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, tutoring sessions, and project-based evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, instructional design, and implementing school-wide educational initiatives.
- Incorporate educational compliance standards and regulations into daily teaching practices while maintaining accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Mentor students academically and personally through academic advising and behavior management strategies; support their social-emotional development.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to teaching science and math at the middle school level; stay current with advances in educational technology integration and instructional methods.
Experience
- Proven classroom teaching experience at the middle school level with a focus on math and science subjects.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and adapting instruction to meet varied learning styles.
- Familiarity with curriculum development tools, instructional design principles, educational technology integration (including IT tools), and implementation of curriculum standards.
- Prior experience in private school settings is advantageous but not required; a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment is essential.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, mentoring students, and engaging parents or guardians when necessary.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and educational compliance requirements relevant to middle school education.
